BASEBALL QUESTION - Why are today's batting stances so generic compared to yesteryear??

In the old days, I could tell you a player based on his batting stance without even looking at the player.. Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Willie Stargell, Carl Yastrzemski, Rod Carew, George Brett, and many others had very unique batting stances or pre-pitch routines.. Made the game that much more interesting...Now, it seems everyone has basically a similar batting stance.. Why is that???
