Plain and simple.. SOCIALISM DOES NOT WORK.. IT has NEVER WORKED and I dont think it will work in the future... Fans of Bernie Sanders and AOC have thoughts that if the right person is in charge and the right policies enacted, that Democratic Socialism could work... My response is that capitalism is NOT A PERFECT SYSTEM, for sure.. I can name problems as well even though I endorse it.. But it is the BEST SYSTEM as I see it... ALL SYSTEMS will have problems because imperfect people are involved in the processes so it is still about which is best not which is perfect.

Sweden is used as an example of Democratic Socialism that works...I am of Swedish descent. My brother-in-law is from Denmark but can practically see downtown Stockholm, Sweden from the house he grew up... I have cousins in Sweden and friends there, as well.. So I know a little bit about it to share with you.. I STRONGLY INVITE YOU TO FACT CHECK WHAT I SAY!!!

HISTORY:

To understand Sweden's 'success' is to understand their history, people, and country..It is a relatively small country at just over 10 million people, which has helped their country in some ways. Sweden had the largest PER CAPITA economic growth in the world, from 1870 to 1950.. Lots of good inventors and discoveries in Sweden, at that time.. Swedish people are comparably to the rest of the world, physically active and eat healthy, in general terms..

That economic growth in the 19th and 20th centuries have allowed them to succeed even though they chose to re-distribute their wealth through taxes in the 1960s.. That caused economic stagnation, in subsequent decades.. In 1994, Sweden deregulated a lot of their businesses and so now they work on a very PRO-CAPITALIST foundation, which has lead to modest economic growth in recent years... However, many economists, both conservative and liberal, will tell you it is an unsustainable model and it will become very evident in the next few decades if it does not get fixed now..

SWEDEN'S "GIVE AND TAKE"

Sweden taxes the income of its working people at a 61.85% rate.. On top of that, they pay a 7% tax which amounts to a social security tax... PLUS a 25% consumption tax on purchases.. So my liberal friends see I am fair, I will give you what the government provides in return.

1)Everyone gets a government pension
2)Near zero cost( I would debate that term) healthcare.
3)Unemployment insurance
4)Paid education through the PhD level
5)Paid child day care
6)VERY GENEROUS "leave of absence from work" policies... Including 6 months for education, 6 months to start your own business, and up to 16 months parental leave with the ability to collect 80% of your normal pay in that time.
7)16 public paid vacation days(Ironically, 10 of those days are Christian holidays though less than 5% of the nation of Sweden attends church on a regular basis)
