WHERE ARE MY LIBERAL "FRIENDS" ON HERE??

President Biden wants us to join him in yelling at those 'filthy rich' gas station owners to lower prices. So why isn't he also yelling at college presidents and boards to lower tuition prices?? Why not tell the producers of electric cars to lower prices, if his logic is supposed to work?? Honestly, I think Biden might be the worst President in my lifetime and I did not think that would be possible after 4 years of Jimmy Carter. How do you possibly defend him, if you are a fan of Biden??

BBall Recruiting Mason Klabo

I posted a recent Q&A interview with Mason Klabo, a 6-foot-1 2025 guard from Fargo (ND) Davies, who is considered North Dakota's top player in his class. He averaged 5.9 points as an 8th grader, but elevated his scoring to nearly 28 points as a freshman.

TIME TO GET RID OF ALL THE PROFESSIONAL ALL STAR GAMES

Actually, way overdue in my opinion. Pro football and basketball all star games have become "ho hum" events. The NBA is on TV all the time so fans can see the players most all the time. So many football players back out because of injury or other reasons. The NHL all star game is like a goal scoring fest, which I guess is ok but again, I can see most of my favorite players on TV, once a week, anyways. Baseball still makes the most sense to have an all star game but I think the players would just like a midseason break and it would benefit the game, all the better.

If its a money grab, well I think that will become counterintuitive at some point. Maybe I am just getting old and crochety, I dont know. But I think the leagues would benefit with a break more than have all these competitions that are getting less and less viewership.

The Big Ten announced today the student-athletes who will be participating in Big Ten Football Media Days, which will be held July 26-27 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Minnesota will participate in media activities on Tuesday, July 26.

The student-athletes who will be attending on behalf of Minnesota are quarterback Tanner Morgan, defensive back Tyler Nubin, center John Michael Schmitz and linebacker Mariano Sori-Marin.

Morgan is Minnesota's all-time winningest quarterback with a 27-12 career record. The sixth-year senior has completed 554 passes (third most in school history) of 903 attempts (fifth most in school history) for 8,072 yards (second most in school history). His career completion percentage of .614 ranks first in school history and his 56 career touchdown passes ranks second.

Nubin finished third on the team last season with 52 tackles and led the Gophers with three interceptions, which included a game-winning interception at Purdue. He also broke up two passes and had one sack. He is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was named the All-Big Ten Honorable Mention last season. He earned Guaranteed Rate Bowl Defensive MVP laurels after recording eight tackles, one sack and one pass breakup in a win against West Virginia.

Schmitz is a preseason All-American and enters the season as a Rimington Trophy favorite. The sixth-year senior was named All-Big Ten Second Team last season by the coaches and All-Big Ten Third Team by the media. The four-time Academic All-Big Ten standout has played in 44 career games and has made 23 starts at center for the Gophers.

Sori-Marin is Minnesota's leading returning tackler as he notched 85 stops last season. He also added 4.5 tackles for loss, broke up three passes, forced two fumbles and made one interception. Sori-Marin started all 13 games and the three-time Academic All-Big Ten standout was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention last season.

Minnesota opens the season on Thursday, Sept. 1 against New Mexico State at Huntington Bank Stadium on Big Ten Network.

Gopher Men's Basketball Honored By NABC for Academic Excellence

Minneapolis - The University of Minnesota men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches with a Team Academic Excellence Award, announced today by the organization. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Golden Gophers held a team GPA of 3.18 last year.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2019-20 season. Over 2,000 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2021-22.

Minnesota, along with Rutgers are the two Big Ten representatives to receive a Team Academic Excellence Award this year.

The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Minnesota had seven total individuals receive this honor: Jamison Battle, Parker Fox, Isaiah Ihnen, Joey Kern, Luke Loewe, Eylijah Stephens and Payton Willis.

Minnesota also had three Academic All-Big Ten selections in Ihnen, Willis and Eric Curry. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten merits, student-athletes must be on a varsity team, have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In addition, Minnesota had nine with Gopher ties graduate last spring.

BBall Recruiting Where does Minnesota Basketball Recruiting Go Next?

Minnesota was in the final six for both Trent Pierce and Milan Momcilovic before both committed to other schools this week, going to Missouri and Iowa State, respectively. The Gophers put a full court press on Pierce and had been recruiting him for a year and a half. However, sometimes a school that is new to the landscape might have an advantage and Missouri offered the possibility of playing close to home, yet allowing him to leave home a bit.

Momcilovic was a player that the Gophers liked, but they felt that he was similar to Nolan Winter, whose parents both attended Minnesota. Winter will visit Wisconsin August 3rd and is expected to visit Minnesota in the fall and attend a football game. The feeling is that it is a two-team race and the fact that there is a gap between the two visits, figures to get Minnesota the slight edge. Wisconsin has recruit Lakeville North well over the years, but the hometown team will be hard to beat.

The Gophers would love a three-man addition of Winter, Taison Chatman, who announced Minnesota in his Final Five and Cam Christie to go along with Kayden Betts, who has played well this summer. There is some talk that Betts, an excellent student, could try to enroll early with the loss of Parker Fox.

Most important year of Fleck’s legacy…agree?

This season is so important. If we have another strong season I think the country will recognize our program as fairly in the second tier of the BIG 10 behind only Ohio State & Michigan. That’s where Wisconsin and Iowa live

Not sure how Penn state is viewed these days.

But if we go 6-6 or something in that range we won’t get the national respect we desire. So with that said. This season is the biggest season of Fleck’s Minnesota career….IMO.

Man, we need to win the west this season….💯
