BBall Recruiting JT Rock

I posted an interview with JT Rock, a 7-foot 2024 center from Sioux Falls (SD) Lincoln, who is ranked as the #1 player in the state in his class. His inside/outside game has drawn comparisons to NBA stars Kevin Durant and Dirk Nowitzki and he recently earned a Minnesota offer.

Jackson McAndrew Interview

I posted a Q&A interview with Jackson McAndrew, a 6-foot-8 rising junior from Wayzata, shined this past weekend with the Howard Pulley 16's. He picked up his second offer from Northern Iowa and has gotten increased interest from Minnesota and Wisconsin.

White supremacists, damn

They must have infiltrated all segments of the Twin City gang picture. Last nite multiple fights broke out in a large crowd at the Stone Arch Bridge. Four people were shot. Apparently they've even taken over tubing on the Mississippi as well. Fights broke out there as well while just floating down the river. You can't have fun anywhere. I see now why our egg headed AG Garland has named White supremacy as our number one terror threat. We've got to be living in an alternate universe. I have no desire to experience the excitement of 'downtown' atmosphere, I can find plenty of beer in north central Minnesota😊

2022 ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge Matchups Announced

The Big Ten Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference unveil 14 games that will comprise the 15thannual event.
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Today, the matchups for the 15th ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge were announced, with the annual event once again featuring 14 high-quality games.

The 2022 ACC/Big Ten Women's Basketball Challenge will take place over two days, beginning Wednesday, November 30, with Big Ten Conference schools Minnesota, Penn State and Purdue playing host to ACC counterparts that evening, while Illinois, Ohio State and Rutgers venture on the road. The following night (Thursday, December 1), Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin will serve as the Big Ten Conference host schools, while Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska and Northwestern will play at ACC sites.

“The ACC/Big Ten Challenge has a longstanding history as one of the elite non-conference women’s basketball events in the country,” said Megan Kahn, Big Ten Conference Vice President of Women’s Basketball. “This year’s Challenge features a lineup of exciting, high-quality matchups, including 14 teams that competed in last year’s NCAA Tournament. We look forward to two days of competitive games and showcasing exceptional women’s basketball across the country.”

Game times and television coverage for the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge will be announced at a later date. All Big Ten Conference home games will appear on either the Big Ten Network (BTN), B1G+, or one of the ESPN networks, while ACC home games will be shown on either the ACC Network, ACC Network Extra (ACCNX), the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks (RSN), or one of the ESPN networks.

Five of the matchups in the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge will feature teams appearing in ESPN’s 2022-23 “Way Too Early Top 25” rankings — No. 6 Iowa plays host to No. 8 NC State, No. 12 Indiana welcomes No. 13 North Carolina, No. 15 Ohio State visits seventh-ranked Louisville, No. 18 Maryland travels to No. 9 Notre Dame, and No. 22 Nebraska heads to No. 11 Virginia Tech.

The Big Ten and ACC have been among the most competitive conferences on the national women’s basketball landscape for many years, with the conferences combining to send 18 schools to postseason play in 2021-22.

The Big Ten Conference had six schools (one shy of the conference record) qualify for the NCAA Tournament back in March, as Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio State all competed in the national tournament. For the second-consecutive year, the Big Ten Conference had a conference-record four schools (Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, and Ohio State) reach the NCAA Sweet 16, with Michigan advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in school history. In addition, Minnesota and Purdue participated in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), both reaching the second round of the tournament.

BBall Recruiting GOPHER HOOPS: I AM LIKING WE ARE PURSUING THE LIKES OF TRENT PIERCE AND NOLAN WINTER

I have tried to gather as much information as possible on Trent Pierce out of Tulsa Oklahoma and Nolan Winter out of Minnesota. Both are small forwards but in somewhat different roles on how each is used on their teams.

I like Pierce because he reminds me somewhat of Amir Coffey except I am more impressed how Pierce carries himself in interviews. Pierce plays all over the floor for his team, including ballhandling. Has a decent outside shot and is REALLY LONG. 6-8 and 190 pounds. Yes he needs to put on a bit of muscle. Dont know if I would say he is super quick but he could guard the 2 thru 4 positions, ok. I need to see him in full games to get a feel for how well he defends but he sounds willing and his length is really attractive to me. He makes good decisions with the ball and seems to move well, off the ball, WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO TALL FORWARDS. His ballhandling at his size is a plus.

I think he may be hard to get out of the plains. The state of Oklahoma has a banner group coming through in 2023 and I am sure Porter Moser would love to get all of them at Oklahoma... Oklahoma State and Missouri will be in the running for sure.

Nolan Winter is a much more sure bet for the Gophers, given he is a local player and his Dad is a former Gopher.. Winter is in that 6-9, 6-10 range so he is not going to blow by anyone as a small forward. So when I watch him, I am looking to see if he picks his spots to drive to the basket. He has a nice shot... What I like about what I have seen about him is that he moves well off the ball.. He gets himself in position to rebound or get to a good shot, when he does not have the ball. He can pick-n-pop just fine. He is also very long but may have trouble guarding more athletic small forwards. He seems to have a great feel for the game and always looks to help his team, off the ball.

You guys know I love length and athleticism. These guys are both definitely long. To me, you can never have enough of those guys so I would take both if they were both available to us. Ben is recruiting the right way for the Gophers, in terms of the future.
