Football Spring game set for April 22nd

The University of Minnesota football team will hold its annual spring game presented by Holiday Stationstores, part of the Circle K family at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Huntington Bank Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on BTN and can be heard on the radio on KFAN. Additional details – like parking, pregame fan activities and what time gates open – will be announced in the future.

The traditional spring tilt will once again end with the victorious team hoisting the coveted Goldy's Cup and a player being named the Sid Hartman Spring Game MVP.

While additional details will be announced in the future, two constants will remain.

First, fans are encouraged to bring a decorated oar to the spring game. These customized oars will be added to the inside of Huntington Bank Stadium where they adorn the hallway that the Gophers travel from their locker room to the field on game days. These inspirational oars are the final images the Gophers see before taking the field and serve as a way to connect the community and state with Gopher football.

Second, the team will once again host its annual diaper drive at the spring game. Gopher fans have donated more than 115,000 diapers in the last six years and fans are encouraged to bring diapers to the game and drop them off outside the stadium near Tribal Nations Plaza (outside of West Plaza). These diapers will then be donated to the Diaper Bank of Minnesota where they will then be distributed to families in need.

Basketball ***GAME THREAD: PENN STATE***

Can the Gophers end their eight-game losing streak tonight?

Penn State just snapped a four-game losing streak of their own on Tuesday with a 93-81 win over Illinois. Nittany Lions guard Jalen Pickett went off against the Illini, scoring 41 points on 15-of-20 from the field. Needless to say he was in "fire" mode on NBA Jam.

Minnesota has failed to score 60 points in their last three losses. However, Dawson Garcia will be a game-time decision tonight. The Gophers leading scorer has missed the last five games with a bone bruise, so if he's available, fortunes could be favorable for Minnesota as they look to end their 2022-23 season with some form of momentum. The schedule doesn't get any easier the rest of the way.
