Why I think Pitino will get some more rope:
1) Gophers had a solid season last year
2) was shaping up for a good season again this year before he lost 3 of his top 6 players on a team that lacked depth to begin with.
3) Pitino handled the Lynch situation well—followed protocol to the letter and hasn’t tried to excuse Lynch’s actions or otherwise put his foot in his mouth.
4) Firing Lucia, or more likely pushing him into ‘retirement’ is the obvious next move for Coyle. Minnesota is blessed to have 3 revenue sports where most schools have 2.
Hockey has drastically underachieved for most of the past decade. We should be Alabama, but instead we are Texas.
Get rid of Lucia this year.
Give Lil’ Richard another year to right the ship. If the Gophers face plant again next year, maybe it becomes time to make a move.
