Time is a resource that you cant make more. You can with money(investment gains and interest) but not time. You can only be more efficient by good scheduling and delegating.. That is where those 'behind the scenes' people come into play. Coaches need to maximize their time and try to 'BE ON' when they are greeting players, fans, and organizations, as they know they are representing the school. That means regardless of whether a coach has problems at home or with the team, a stomach ache, headache, or whatever, the public wants a smile on the coach's face when the public pays money to see and hear their coach. That is why work ethic is so important for coaches as they have 80,90, and possibly 100 hour work weeks. Lots of energy needed as time is valuable and the pull of their time by others is incredible... Not easy being a coach at a big school.

Because everything takes time, people behind the scenes become incredibly important to keep the coaches straight in where they need to be at what time. If there is an event that a speech is involved and how much time is expected for the speech whether they are the keynote or not. Whether or not it is a suit and tie event or wearing a polo shirt with the university logo..Who is going to pick up and drop off the coach at the airport if the event is many many miles away, who is running the event and who does the coach need to meet once they get there, scheduling local media interviews at away sites when a coach is visiting, hotel reservations, scheduling flights, rental cars if needed, ordering equipment, maintenance of facilities, feeding the coaches and players....I am not even TOUCHING THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG with these examples but I want to offer up a big "thank you" for helping our coaches out.. Behind the scenes people dont get credit whether these jobs stay in football operations or are fettered out among the rest of the athletic administration.. Running a football program is a HUGE RESPONSIBILITY and lots of hands and specialties are needed to do it right...THANK YOU!!
