It may just be me but while this news is a surprise it is not shocking as I always felt a dark undercurrent during his visits, stories and *adventures* on his travel/food/social commentary shows on the Travel Channel but especially in his work on CNN. I wasn't a big fan as it always felt like he was chasing an unknown something underneath the surface (pseudo-?) sophistication and smugness -- others I'm sure may have a different take.
