Zeb Jackson is a kid that grew from 5-10 to 6-3 in a year.. The family thinks he has one more growth spurt in him.. He plays at a private school just outside Toledo, Maumee Valley Country Day. Has a 3.5 GPA in college prep courses. This kid is going to be the next great player out of Toledo.. The best since Nigel Hayes and Marc Loving.. He is being recruited harder than either Hayes or Loving at that age. Probably along the lines of William Buford, who ended up at Ohio State.
He is a left hander with a sweet shot. His AAU team needed him to score a lot so he did. I didnt think he was able to show his passing skills in AAU so you probably have to see tape of him during the basketball season of his school to analyze that. He, like a lot of young kids, will need to raise his release point on his jumper before he gets to college but he has good form.. Can finish with either hand off the drive.
Providence, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Michigan State are starting to recruit him harder. His Dad, Zeb Jackson Sr, played football at Bowling Green State University... His Dad has him on a strict regimen of practicing in basketball, right now.. Has had MULTIPLE 40 point games in his first few years of high school... I promise he is not a gunner, though.. The points come within the flow of the offense.. Virginia stopped by the school the other day and said they will probably offer... Which, I thought, was ironic considering that I think his weakness is off-the-ball defense and at VIrginia, you better play defense or you wont play at all....
Besides letting the coaching staff know, if you see Melvin Newbern(Toledo Scott) around the Twin Cities, let him know about the kid..I say that because I think Newbern knows Jackson's dad and may be an 'in' for us.. This kid is going to 'blow up' after this next season so I am hoping that the coaching staff has some contacts in the area to get in on this kid now.
