Than Kimani Young and Ben Johnson???? A mix of Minnesota players that have relationships with Ben Johnson and the NYC area kids with Kimani Young...I know we have to land more of these kids but Coffey, Lynch, Oturu, Thomas, Kalscheur, Hurt from Minnesota which I am sure Ben Johnson played a big role in getting those kids.
Kimani Young has us involved with some fantastic kids from the NYC metro... We have had special players from NYC in the program going back to the days of Eric Harris, Ray Williams, and Ron Behagen...Cant wait to see Isaiah Washington and Jamal Harris play along with a proven NYC commodity in Dupree McBrayer.. But now we are in on multiple big name kids from the city.. Gosh, I pray we keep Kimani in the program for the forseeable future as it sounds like all these kids respect him in what reputation he has with NYC kids.
I know North Carolina is kind of a sore subject now but if you look at their history starting with Frank McGuire, then Dean Smith up to Roy Williams, that Tar Heel dynasty was started with NYC kids as the majority of the Tar Heel rosters not local kids from North Carolina. NYC kids can be the start of something special.
That is an exciting future... Minnesota and NYC are producing top shelf recruits in the next 2-3 classes. We cant get 'em all but if we can get a just a few of them, we could be in contention for Big Ten titles and go deep in the NCAAs....Yes, we just cant get excited about them without landing them but we have a good start with the kids we have aboard right now.... Great time to be a Gopher hoops fan!!!!
