I was reading an article on Bierman and it gave dates when he coached college basketball. The years coaching at Montana correlated with the years he coached at Minnesota for football. Can anyone confirm that?? Bierman had 5 national championships as coach of the Gophers.
BTW, as an extra for history, the TRUE CRADLE OF COACHES for the COLLEGE COACHES WITH THE MOST NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS BELONGS TO WEST VIRGINIA, which is strange... Fielding Yost(Michigan) and Nick Saban(Alabama) were born 11 miles apart and won 6 national championships each. Yost is never mentioned because he won his national titles before the "POLLS" were instituted. John McKay of USC was born in a town in West VIrginia that is now defunct and won 4 national titles.. Of course, former Gopher coach Lou Holtz was born in West Virginia and has one at Notre Dame as well as Jimbo Fisher at Florida State, a native West Virginian.
