  • It's been difficult for the team because there have been a lot of players who have been allowed to practice but not allowed to do contact. Lynch, Fitzgerald, and McBrayer have consistently been on contact restrictions. Without doing contact, it's hard to gauge where the team is at defensively. Lynch has a meeting with a doctor and could definitely be cleared today. Taking an NBA approach with being extremely cautious with injuries. We'll get healthy -- none are major concerns. Nate Mason had a minor ankle sprain too but will be fine.
  • Doesn't have the answer to getting rid of the one and done rule or not. Where it's at right now is not good. If kids don't want to go to college, we probably shouldn't make them go. The trendy thing now seems to be the baseball model, but not even sure what that is.
  • Begged and pleaded for Reggie Lynch to not foul and stay on the floor. Have to make sure the fundamentals are sound when he's shot blocking and that when he gets tired those don't go away. He's as good as it gets as a shot blocker and it'd be bad for him to lose his aggression. Obviously have to find a way for him to cut down his other fouls. He's a willing learner. He'll be better this year -- there's a jump coming from going against MVC bigs to Big Ten bigs.
  • Isaiah Washington has a long way to go with little things. Sometimes it's what you do on the court that prohibits playing time. With Isaiah and Jamir, they're going to play a lot if they minimize mistakes. Isaiah is an incredible passer. He's tinkered with lineups to find a way to get him on the court. Finding ways to get everyone playing time is a great problem to have.
  • For the first time in four years, NBA scouts have come to practice.
