Game of My Life Minnesota

(Memorable Stories of Gophers Football) by Joel Rippel (Forward by Charlie Sanders)

I was poking around Amazon Prime a few days ago and came across this book. I have had pretty good luck on the condition of their discounted hardcovers (currently this one is posted for $6.54, no shipping if a Prime member)

This seems to be part of a series (Game of My Life Pittsburgh, Alabama etc) but the stories are well researched. The Gophers version chronicles 20 ex Gophers players and coaches going back to 1940. Most chapters involve a player, usually some background on them growing up or how they became Gopher players, but of most interest is them setting up, and then retelling the game that had the most impact on them. Bud Grant and Ohio State 1949, Bob McNamara/Iowa 1954, Bobby Bell/Michigan St. 1961, Doug Kingswriter/Wisconsin 1971, Mark Carlson/Michigan 1977, Mike Hohensee/Ohio St. 1981, Ricky Foggie/Clemson 1985 and Lohmiller-Darrell Thompson-Tyrone Carter-Spaeth-Cupito.
Read just a couple of chapters but the format seems solid, and there is follow up to each player as to what they are doing now. For the cost of a Big Mac sit down, the book seems promising, especially to bridge the gap between now and spring ball. Enjoy if you pull the trigger.
