I can confirm this evening that Eden Prairie (Minn.) outside linebacker Carter Coughlin committed to Minnesota over Ohio State and Oregon moments ago.

Coughlin represents a huge win for Jerry Kill and staff as they'll keep the top player in-state, especially as Coughlin could have gone anywhere in the country, it's a huge win early in the 2016 cycle.

Credit linebackers coach Mike Sherels the most for landing this commitment as he spend a lot of time and energy over the last months and months trying to land his services. Reminder that both of Coughlin's parents were athletes at Minnesota and his grandfather was the Athletic Director as well.

Coughlin is the second commit for Minnesota joining in-state defensive tackle JoJo Garcia, so Minnesota now has the top two players in-state locked down.

I'll have more with Coughlin a little later tonight.
