Sherels visited Kamal Martin this morning, and here's what Kamal had to say: "Coach Sherels came to my school today before leaving to Florida, and he's coming on a home visit next Tuesday! The visit went well! Just stopped in to say hi, always great seeing him!"

I've said before that Kamal would likely start at outside linebacker, with defensive end being an option down the road if he adds a lot of weight, and tight end being a third (and least likely option). It sounds like he's all set to be an outside linebacker now. "It's set that I'll be playing linebacker! Most likely outside!" I think it's funny that Kamal's very reserved and has a serious demeanor when interviewing him in person, but comes off as absolutely beaming through text. Always enjoy talking to Kamal.

As Kamal said, Sherels is now off to Florida. He'll be seeing the twins and Dredrick Snelson. It's interesting that he's visiting "the trio." The primary contact for those three were Kill, Claeys, and Phelps, and I believe it was Phelps who visited them over the bye week. Update: Elisha tells me Sherels is coming tomorrow. None of the three received visits today.

Dan O'Brien made his first recruiting visit. Conner Olson tells me that O'Brien visited this morning. Matt Kegel also told me O'Brien will be visiting him today.

Trystan Castillo says he has an in home visit tonight with Claeys. Pretty clear that he's a really big want and that the Foster --> Castillo and/or a JUCO situation has been well thought out. Claeys was at the Castillos until about 9, and here's what Castillo told me about how the visits went tonight: "It went great. We talked just about Webb City, my visit coming up, and a lot of things about the school. I can't wait to go up this weekend now." He said he's hoping to have KiAnte Hardin as a host.

Reeves was in Oklahoma looking at NE Oklahoma A&M JC fullback Josh Herman. Herman told GI: "I thought it went well he let me know they had seen my film and that they were interested in me."

Claeys will stay in Missouri tonight to do an in-home visit with Chase Allen with Rob Reeves. Here's what he told me tonight about the visit: "I definitely believe the Gophers lead for Allen at the moment. Here's what he told me tonight: "Talks went great!! They got to talk coaching with my dad and am very excited for my visit this weekend! They said I was at the top of their board at the tight end position." I asked him if he could see himself making a decision shortly after the visit, and he said probably not until around New Years.

Noah Fant tells me he met with Coach Phelps around lunchtime. "It went good. We talked for about 20 minutes about a lot of stuff."

Merrick Jackson also said he told me Phelps came by today.

I said in yesterday's thread that Garrison Wright will receive a visit from Coach Poore today. Forgot to put that in this thread until now, sorry about that. While at Butler CC, he also saw running back Kobe McCrary. I'm guessing he saw Oklahoma State commit and Gopher target Tramal Ivy too, but haven't heard back from Ivy yet.

Poore also saw SMU running back commit Dae Williams, and here's what Dae told me: "We just talked about the kinda offense the run and what all the Big Ten has to offer. We talked a little bit about a potential offer and he said he'd get back to me this weekend." The Gophers seem to be casting a wide net at running back, but I still believe Minnesota leads for Arkeem Byrd. The Gophers visit Byrd on Thursday.

Sawvel's whereabouts -- both targets he saw today was a JUCO, so I think it's safe to say they'll take be taking a JUCO defensive back. This is a new progression, as no one on the staff has really talked with JUCO defensive backs until now. Garden City CC safety Trayvone Blake told me: "Sawvel said he will contact me next week and let me know what's going to happen, if they're going to offer or not." Blake is truly under the radar, as he doesn't have a Rivals profile until I just made him one now. Dodge City CC's Elijah Battle, who has offers from Arizona and West Virginia, also told me that Sawvel was in to see him.

Coach Anderson is in the northern Atlanta area, but I don't have specific names for you at this time.
