With Garrison Wright, Sam Schlueter, Terrell Lucas, Trystan Castillo, and Chase Allen all on campus this weekend, it makes sense that there aren't too many coaches on the road today. The coaches obviously want to be spending time with the official visitors. I know Terrell Lucas is already on campus.

Sawvel is traveling throughout the South visiting cornerback Simeon Smiley, safety Daniel Thomas, guard Tyler Pritchett, and defensive end Zo Bridges.
  • Smiley is a South Alabama commit was was offered this spring after Sawvel watched him live. He's a backup target right now though, with Durr having already visited and Winfield visiting next weekend.
  • Thomas is a target I've brought up since this summer as maybe the closest safety target to an offer. I don't anticipate him picking up an offer today, though.
  • Pritchett is a North Carolina commit and a new name to me. He told me he started to hear from the staff this week.
  • Hearing that Bridges is getting a visit is great news, and hopefully Sawvel is able to set up a visit with him. Bridges kind of fell under the radar as of late because he hasn't talked to the media in months, but he was offered either this spring or summer after the staff watched him and is someone I believe to be a take. Bridges also goes to the same high school as Western Kentucky commit Kyle Fourtenbary, who was offered a long time ago but decided that he wanted to stay close to home. Haven't confirmed that Fourtenbary is getting a visit yet.
Also, Louisiana punter Kody Schexnayder told me that Sawvel visited him yesterday in school. "I've talked to Coach Jay. He said that he really likes the way I attack the ball and really likes the way I punt. We met today at school, and he's a very nice guy. We just talked about how he liked the way I punt and what kind of style they do. They have a regular punt style. We haven't talked about a visit yet, but we're keeping in touch."

Phelps is visiting Will Evans, an Ohio commit who's heard from Minnesota the last couple months. More coaches might be accompanying Phelps on this visit.

Evening update:

Mike Sherels did make a visit today, to see Thomas Barber. "Coach Sherels visited! The visit went well. Got a lot of questions answered, and I'm really excited for start at the U."

Short responses from Tyler Pritchett thus far. "The visit went good. I started talking to me this week. He talked to myself and my teammate and just talked a lot about the program."

While visiting Pritchett, Minnesota all talked to Memphis tight end commit Noah Barnes. "They visited me and Tyler Pritchett today. It was the first time I had ever talked to them. It was nothing serious."

Simeon Smiley's visit got rescheduled. "He wrote me today and said he'll be here next week."

Daniel Thomas' visit got moved as well. "It got pushed back. He didn't come down, but he told me he will next week."
