Strengths: ball skills, smooth athlete
Aidan Gousby is a 6’0”, 180-pound receiver from Lehigh Acres in Lehigh, FL. Gousby committed to Minnesota over offers from Wisconsin, Penn State, Iowa State, Miami (FL), and Maryland among other Power Five offers.
He plays both wide receiver and cornerback at the high school level but is being recruited as a cornerback at the next level. I love his frame at a solid 6’0” and should be able to add weight easily to solidify his frame which will allow him to battle at the line of scrimmage with larger receivers. The receiver highlights of his film show quick feet that change direction and speeds easily which is invaluable as a corner at the next level.
It is clear to me watching his film initially that he is new to the position of corner. He plays cornerback like a wide receiver that is moved to corner, meaning he stands pretty straight up on his backpedal and isn’t as fundamentally sound as others that have been coached to play the position for a long time.
A great athlete, Aidan should be a player that surely will have an opportunity to play eventually in his career at Minnesota. I think a year or two of coaching will do him some good, and could even see a move to safety at one point with his size and ball skills.
