Strengths: feet, plays tough, athleticism
Weaknesses: technique, plays high
Aireontae Ersery is a 6’5”, 290-pound offensive tackle from Kansas City, Missouri. He committed to the Gophers over offers from Kansas State, Ball State, and Kent State among others. He plays both ways at offensive tackle and defensive end but projects as an offensive tackle at the next level.
Although a bit raw at this point, I am quite impressed with how good Ersery’s feet are at this stage. With a large 6’5” frame and long arms, the quickness that he possesses makes it extremely difficult for defensive ends to get around him.
Aireontae does have a bit of a nasty streak to him, which is ideal for an offensive lineman. He finishes his opponent into the dirt and shows nice pop at the point of attack, even on pass block sets. I was pleasantly surprised at how fluid he looked in his pulling highlight locating the linebacker and planting him.
However, his technique will need to be worked on. He has a habit of almost holding on a lot of his blocks to throw defenders to the ground. His pad level also is too high. With a player of his frame/athleticism, I am sure Coach Callahan is smiling somewhere right now.
