Strengths: speed, pursuit, plays extremely hard, athletic ability, instincts
Weaknesses: size for the position, leaves his feet when he tackles
Donald Willis is a 6’1”, 190-pound outside linebacker from Garfield Heights, OH. To put it simple, Willis is a beast. He plays as hard and pursues more than probably any player I’ve watched. He is never out of a play and constantly runs down ball carriers from the backside.
Willis showcases great speed for the position and reads blockers well. He has a feel for the position where he sees plays develop before they happen and is always around the ball. With the athletic ability he possesses, he could play multiple positions. I could see him getting time at linebacker, coming off the edge, or as a safety/OLB hybrid.
Per usual, if I had to pick a weakness of his it would be his size. He is only 6’1”, but I don’t find that to be too big of a deal considering the way he plays. There are plenty of great linebackers that aren’t 6’3”. Another thing I did see is that he tends to leave his feet a bit when he tackles. With more strength/weight, hopefully he’ll get comfortable fitting up ball carriers instead of diving at their legs.
