In April of 1968, Chicago had a hard time with riots. Had a hard time with them later on, at the DNC convention.... I disagree with the politics of the Daley family in Chicago(Mayor Richard Daley, at the time) and President Lyndon Johnson, historically, as I was too young to even talk at that point(LOL)...... BUT Daley brought in 10,500 police, 6700 Illinois National Guard. and 5000 soldiers from the 1st Armored and 5th Infantry Divisions being ordered by President Johnson to restore order. The General in charge declared no one was allowed to have gatherings in riot areas and authorized use of tear gas. Daley GAVE POLICE AUTHORITY TO SHOOT TO KILL ANY ARSONIST OR ANYONE WITH A MOLOTOV COCKTAIL IN HIS HAND... And to shoot, maim, or cripple anyone looting stores in the city.... DEMOCRAT MAYOR, DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT..... Yet, the big cities having problems now are all run by Democrats and seem to let ruin come to their once-proud cities. HMMMMMM????
