Never is there a position where coaching can make such a difference... Kids that have "lower stars' coming into a college program can make huge impacts, including walk-ons...We have seen that team that is just east of Minnesota turn out great college linemen....I see NO REASON we cant have DOMINANT offensive linemen and DOMINANT LINES, as a whole.

I am sure the subject of injury and concussion will come up. We have had WAY MORE THAN OUR SHARE of injuries, up front.. But we seem to get good talent in on the o-line.. Maybe not 4-5 stars but at O-line, I am not sure that always matters.. Wisconsin has had o-line walk-ons that were all Big Ten and played in the NFL.. I am sure we can do it.

What is their 'secret sauce' at Wisconsin or even down at Iowa?? Why do they have so many more o-linemen that are all Big Ten or drafted?? We have had good offensive line coaches.. Guys that are smart, up front

QUESTION FOR PEOPLE LIKE OPD..... Do you think o-linemen can get too big or too tall?? The reason I ask is that I thought the Vikings reached when they got Alex Boone a few years back... Alex is easily 6-7 or taller and I think has trouble bending at the knees or getting leverage...Those taller bigger guys may be a tad slow off the ball.. I am theorizing and spitballing after watching guys over the years and would not defend what I am saying as fact...I do think GUARDS can get too tall but TACKLES are ok to have those tall guys as they usually have the longer arms and can create that blocking radius against defensive ends and linebackers on the edge..Maybe 6-4, 6-5 is the high limit on how tall an offensive guard should be, ideally. That is why I thought Boone struggled inside the 10 yard line AS A GUARD as he was too slow and played too high to get leverage against those defensive tackles at his tall height..Technique is important, no doubt..

I just don't see any reason that we can't have really good offensive lines, year in and year out..Just wondering what you guys think on this issue.
