My question is whether or not the Wisconsin victory over Kentucky affects the 2015 recruiting?? There are a reasonable amount of high rated basketball recruits who haven't committed.I am sure that at least a few were waiting to see if Kentucky would win the national championship. That way, more of the Kentucky kids would probably declare for the draft, opening up scholarships for those highly rated kids to commit.. Will a lot of those kids come back to Kentucky since they didn't win it?? Maybe it will make no difference but if it does where the kids don't leave early, that makes some top kids available. Whether that affects other programs' recruiting(I am sure it is probable) but I don't think the Gophers get those kids, Maybe not, but it may affect the competition for the kids Minnesota is trying to get as the teams competing for our remaining targets may search elsewhere for the available kids. The NEGATIVE side is that more highly rated kids MAY look at Wisconsin, but I doubt it because it didn't really help UCONN or Louisville the last couple years. Wisconsin has a particular type of kid in mind, anyways, when they recruit.

Wisconsin showed what rebounding and fundamentals can do. I guess even though I a huge Gopher fan, I like WIsconsin's committment to good basketball as good fundamentals won out last night, which I like. Not boring basketball but good passing, player movement, good shooting, boxing out, smart guard play, defense, teams gutting it out. That part I like... Kentucky made a HUGE strategic mistake, IMO, in switching everything on defense. I bet Calipari would have done that differently, in retrospect.

Duke presents challenges in a very different way than Kentucky.. Matchups are key and Duke is playing some of the best defense I have seen them play in quite awhile, though the start of the game last night for them was shaky. Justice Winslow will probably play on Dekker and Okafor will be physical with Kaminsky. Duke will have to keep Hayes off the boards as I believe he is the x-factor. Wisconsin has inside-outside flexibility with all 3 front court players and have good role players. Both teams will need good guard play. Wisconsin is very underrated in their guard play. Yes 10 turnovers last night but don't make a lot of stupid mistakes. Duke doesn't really have a lot of shotblockers(except maybe Winslow), but I am not sure that really makes any difference with Wisconsin. I expect this game to be played in the halfcourt, relative to styles of play and talent. Should be a good one but not a lot of up and down play, is my guess.. I said possible not probable for Wisconsin before the game with Kentucky but I give Wisconsin a lot of credit for being mentally tough.
