Strengths: arm strength, pocket presence, footwork, deep ball ability

Weaknesses: home-run hitter, throws into tight windows

Jacob Clark is a 6’4”, 210-pound quarterback from Rockwall, Texas. On tape, the first thing that jumps out is his arm strength. Clark is a tremendous deep ball thrower with touch and does a nice job of altering his landing spot based upon where the defensive back is on the wide receiver.

His pocket presence is special for a junior in high school. Jacob is never phased by a rush and consistently steps up in the pocket to buy time. Clark’s footwork is also mature beyond his age. I also believe that he has enough running ability to extend plays with his feet, however won’t be a consistent running threat. He’s a great athlete as he’s also a varsity basketball player.

Clark displays solid accuracy and does a good job at this point in his career of looking past his first read to at least his second read, which is rare for high school quarterbacks. He has a fairly quick delivery and has experience in an RPO offense, to which he delivers great handoff fakes, which Minnesota fans will be happy to hear as they are heavily invested in the RPO offense.

One negative I did notice with Clark is that he tends to be a bit of a home-run hitter. At times he can forgo an open, shallow receiver to try and hit a deep receiver. His tape shows him trying to throw into tight windows as well. These are throws that he can make in high school due to his arm strength, however windows close much faster in college.

I’m quite excited about Clark. I think he is a natural thrower of the football and is very comfortable throwing the ball. I like him more than Kramer as a prospect down the road and expect him to be competing for time in a few years.
