I have loved AAD, KCGorilla, and OPD77 posts this past year. They are really informative from a father's perspective and give us the inner workings of the program... I so appreciate that.. All parents of players on offense..I would love to pick their brains to learn more about offensive philosophy and strategy of football. Lineman and line coaches usually are some of the smartest people you run into, on those subjects.

I also think of Urban Meyer at Ohio State. Urban has recently been enjoying his grandson and I am sure what is probably his best recruiting class, from a talent and potential standpoint, of his career.. But I GUARANTEE YOU FROM A FOOTBALL PERSPECTIVE that 'Urban's insides' are in a tumultuous state this off season..Urban's Buckeyes got shut out the LAST WEEK of their season, which is unusual in itself, and then to make matters worse, did not have a "next week" to get it straightened out. You can bet that it is eating at him so much that he will do anything and everything to never let that happen again.

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, Urban brought in Kevin Wilson as OC and Ryan Day as QB coach to create tempo on offense.. The Buckeyes had that with Tom Herman a few years ago. Day worked with Chip Kelly who is one of the 'godfathers' of that hurry up style of play. Wilson will bring creativity with spread concepts.. What is interesting is the history here.. Wilson was OC at Northwestern when Meyer's BGSU Falcons played the Wildcats.... BGSU could not stop them or get off the field in that game so Urban started studying what they did in the next offseason. Mind you, BGSU had some pretty good defensive players at the time. Urban has always observed Wilson, offensively, from a distance and been impressed.. They have been friends for a long time and shared ideas so the hiring of Wilson should be pretty seamless.

There is so much talk about winning offense these days.. Athletes on defense have gotten so much better and defensive concepts have gotten more complex. Have to regulate that on offense with good protections and formation shifts. SNAP COUNTS are a huge difference to catch the defense off guard.

BESIDES FINDING A SOLID QB and better skill players at the receivers, what changes do you think the Gophers will have to create that elite culture?? We wil always use the run game as the base, I am sure, but what types of things do you look for next year to better our offense, from an X's and O's perspective???
