  • To beat Maryland by the margin that we did was terrific. We were both playing for a lot. We have to get over it and find a way to beat a very good Penn State team, who's playing very good basketball.
  • We need a great crowd. We can't take Penn State for granted. I know I'm not doing that; the players aren't doing that.
  • It's nice that we don't necessarily have to play under the clout of the bubble talk. But there's a lot that we can still play for.
  • We just keep coaching them to the best of our ability. You always hope you're playing your best basketball at the end of the season, and fortunately we're doing that.
  • This is the most selfless team I've been around, more so than Louisville or Florida. When you get beat up as much as we did last year, and I'm not blaming the critics, you can't have an ego. Collectively, it's just been a group that truly doesn't care about anything else other than winning
  • Against Maryland, Akeem was playing great but Dupree was playing better and can play more positions. Akeem was the most vocal guy in the locker room after the game.
  • I didn't even know there were cameras in the locker room after the Maryland game. I'm glad I didn't swear or anything.
  • We're a better rebounding team than we were when we lost to Penn State.
  • Murphy has really mentally matured and gotten tougher. He's really trying to lead. Last game, he was shooting three pointers and realized that probably wasn't the best gameplan and got closer to the basket.
  • I think we're past letdown status. There's so much that we're playing for. I hope we're past that.
  • I've seen the pendulum swing both ways my whole life. My dad was the coach at Kentucky, for the Celtics, and Louisville. We had a rough year and people didn't like me. No one's rude to me, though. I take it in stride both ways. It's been exciting for our guys this year.
  • Murphy has a green light from three. He won't shoot too many, but if he's open and it's in rhythm, he can shoot it. I want my players to feel free and confident. As long as he's working hard and grabbing rebounds, he can shoot threes when he's open. Now, Bakary not so much. He won't be shooting a three again like he did against Ohio State.
Jordan Murphy
  • Where we were last year was a dark place. It gives you a lot of confidence and optimism knowing where we are now.
  • Sometimes I reflect back, and it's just a whole different story. Our players and chemistry are just so much better.
  • I don't think we've really reached our potential yet. I don't want to be complacent with where we're at right now.
  • I think the players only meeting was more of Nate and Akeem's idea. I had no idea that Coach didn't know about the meeting.
Eric Curry
  • The captains on the team told us the truth and what we needed to hear during the players only meeting. They were real with the players.
  • I played Penn State's freshman in EYBL, so I know they have some talent. They're really good.
