I dont know baseball, very well.. But I do know that Giancarlo Stanton is a very talented young player at 25 years of age. But this is insane.. I just heard that his team, the Miami Marlins, are negotiating a contract that could pay him up to $300 million in total. This is bigger than many 3rd world nation's whole economies. Mind you, I don't begrudge him for it but the economics of many pro sports is literally crazy.
I am still trying to figure out how that franchise has that kind of money. They don't draw that well, I don't think. This franchise seems to have a history of winning a championship, then 'blowing up' the team only to start over. Why would they sign any player for that kind of money?? For baseball people, how do you explain this?? Mauer's contract is nothing compared to this.
