Regards two plays in FS game, that significantly impacted team, game.
Watching the replay of the game. Watch the first FS touchdown. Winfield got burned on rollout, belatedly covered his man.
Now watch the interception. You can see him drifting to the ballcarrier, and then almost like a light bulb went off, he recognized the situation. And immediately shifts into coverage mode.
Basically he learned his lesson, and overcame his mistake. Had he not been burned on that first touchdown I’m not sure he would’ve read the fullback pass to make the interception.
Obviously very physically gifted athlete. But these two plays also indicate his ability to learn, adapt, using a very smart football mind.
His fan club may need a bigger boat.
