I think if I am not mistaken, over 2/3 of our games have gone down to the wire to determine a victory.. The Iowa game shows a 12 point win but that game went to OT.. Big 10 games have been fun to watch from a competitive standpoint, except the Michigan State game the 2nd time around. We have not always played great basketball. but our games are so competitive. We could have easily won the games against league leading Wisconsin and even Maryland.. Especially Michigan State, the first game.. Easily could have victories against all the top 5 teams in the conference... IF, IF, IF, right?? Of course, in fairness, we could have easily lost those close games that we won, so that kinda works both ways.
SO WISH I lived in the Twin Cities this year... This is good entertainment and I would say a great source of pride... Love the job that Pitino has done with the program this year. I guess I like the other things that are evident to me, besides what is going on in the results of the game.. I see gain in process of winning.... I do see concerning things like Dupree McBrayer's confidence right now or Reggie Lynch continuing the same story of foul trouble without improving that facet. But I love that guys are stepping up to make things happen after going through a tough losing streak in January... Like that fortitude of the team.
FACTS... 3 of our last 5 opponents have beaten us already this year.. 2 of those teams that already beat us will be at their place.. The other 2 opponents, Michigan and Nebraska, are fully capable of beating us though both those games are at the Barn. Ending the year 0-5 in the last 5 games does NOT take a lot of imagination... But 5-0 is a real possibility as well... I think a victory at Madison would "turn the corner' for this Gopher program.. We will be underdogs in that game but teams have done that to us in the past.. Beating us in games where we were favored at home.. Why cant we return the favor to a Badger team at their place????? Talk about a confidence and recruiting booster!!!
The "realist" in me says we end the last 5 games either 2-3 or 3-2.. The Michigan game will be really tough on Sunday even though it is at home. Maryland and Wisconsin will be extremely tough to predict Gopher wins at their place when they beat us at the Barn and of course, they are 2 of the top teams in the conference... But if things go right and Dupree gets to playing like he did earlier and Lynch makes some adjustments, 5-0 is a real possibility from here to the end...I want to forget the 'logic' for a second and be a big Gopher fan!! THIS IS A FUN FUN TEAM TO WATCH!!! JOIN ME IN CHEERING THE GOPHERS TO 5 MORE VICTORIES TO END THE SEASON
