No. 6 Gopher Volleyball
Minnesota (15-2) saw no movement in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. Florida remains the top-ranked team in the nation, holding tight to 61-of-64 first-place votes and a 13-0 record. Big Ten rival Penn State moved up one spot to No. 2.

Previously: The Gophers stretched their winning streak to three matches, defeating ranked Wisconsin and Michigan teams on the road last weekend.

Up Next: Wednesday night, no. 16 Purdue comes to Maturi Pavilion as the Maroon & Gold are at home twice this week and four-of-their-next five matches. Iowa comes to Minneapolis on Sunday for their next home match-up.

No. 7 Gopher Men’s Hockey
Minnesota (1-1-0) shifted four spots in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll after mixed results on opening weekend at the Icebreaker Tournament.

Previously: The Gophers defeated Union in game two last weekend, picking up a 2-0 victory to bounce back after Minnesota Duluth edged the team in overtime on Friday night.

Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will be home this weekend with games Friday and Sunday against Penn State as the Gophers look to gain a bit of payback from last season’s Big Ten Tournament thriller against the Nittany Lions.

No. 9 Gopher Women’s Hockey
Minnesota (1-2-1) slipped to ninth in the latest USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll. WCHA rival Wisconsin remains the top-ranked team in the nation, claiming 10-of-15 first-place votes.

Previously: The Gophers came away with a 5-5 tie on Saturday afternoon against Ohio State, but the Buckeyes claimed the shootout victory to escape Minneapolis with five conference points on the weekend.

Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will head north the next two weekends for a pair of conference series, beginning with a trip to Bemidji State this weekend. The Gophers and Beavers will meet at 3:07 p.m. both Friday and Saturday afternoon.

No. 17 Gopher Women’s Swimming & Diving
Minnesota enters the season ranked 17th after closing out the 2016-17 campaign at no. 19. The U is the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team in the Preseason CSCAA Division I Women’s Poll. The next poll comes down on Oct. 24.

Previously: The Gophers defeated Florida State in their season-opening dual, 153.5 to 146.5.

Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will be off this weekend before they open the conference season with another dual in Iowa on Friday, Oct. 27.

No. 20 Gopher Women’s Cross Country
Minnesota stayed put in this week’s USTFCCCA Division I Women’s Cross Country National Coaches Poll, remaining no. 20 after being idle last week. Iowa State, the top-ranked team in the Midwest region, fell one spot to 18th this week.

Previously: The Gophers had a bye last week.

Up Next: The Maroon & Gold return to the course this weekend, once again splitting the team between two races and competing at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison on Friday and the Tori Neubauer Invitational in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Saturday.

No. 21 Gopher Men’s Swimming & Diving
Minnesota entered the season ranked 21st after closing out the 2016-17 campaign at no. 20. The U of M was the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team in the Preseason CSCAA Division I Men’s Poll. The next poll comes down on Oct. 24.

Previously: The Gophers fell in their season-opening dual match-up with Florida State, 179-121.

Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will be off this weekend before they open the conference season with another dual in Iowa on Friday, Oct. 27.

No. 23 Gopher Soccer
Minnesota (9-2-3) jumped back into the top-25 this week, ranked no. 23 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division I Women’s Poll for week eight after standing among the teams receiving votes a week ago.

Previously: The Gophers remain undefeated in their last six including five-straight victories after knocking off Indiana and Purdue at ELR Stadium, outscoring foes 5-2 on the weekend.

Up Next: The Maroon & Gold will have an extended stay in the state of Illinois this weekend as the team takes on Northwestern on Thursday night before heading to Champaign to take on Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
