Daniel Oturu and Cretin lead Wayzata at the half 40-22. Oturu has been having his way inside as usual, he has 16 points and 7 rebounds at the break. He has had a couple dunks inside, one in transition, and a couple putbacks. He continues to affect everything at the rim.
2nd Half:
-Oturu starts the half with a big block, denying a Wayzata center inside with a blocked shot and starting a Cretin fast break.
-Two possessions later, Daniel catches a pass on the left elbow, jab steps and elevates for a 15 foot jumper over his defender. Nothing but net. He has 18 points.
-Up 45-22, Wayzata has a two on one and their shooting guard decides to attack Oturu at the rim. He sends the layup attempt out of bounds with his second block of the half.
-The next possession, Daniel posts up and attacks the hoop with a spin move to the right. He draws a foul but misses both foul shots.
-Daniel just pinned a layup attempt off the glass. Wayzata continues to try and attack him.
-Oturu gets to 20/10 with an offensive rebound and a putback inside with his right hand. He also has six blocks.
-After a Sy Chatman steal, he drives in and misses a layup on a fast break but Oturu puts it back to get to 22 points and 11 boards.
-Oturu runs off an off-ball screen and catches on the left elbow. He jabs left, spins back to the middle and hits a 12 foot floater in the lane. I'm very impressed how he is able to create space for himself and score off the dribble. Cretin up 61-38,
-One more block for Daniel as the guards for Wayzata keep trying to challenge him at the rim.
-One of the most impressive parts of his game is the way he can pass out of double teams. At 6'11" he is able to hold the ball with one hand, turn, and see over the defense when they double team him to find the open guy. The Gophers desperately need a big man that can do this.
-Daniel checks out for the last time with 1:40 left in the game. Cretin leads 69-48.
Final Stat Line: 24 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks.
