Gopher baseball team sweeps Creighton in an abbreviated two game series. Goph's won Saturday 8-6 in 12 innings. Gilbreath and Glowicki combined for 6 shutout innings of relief. The Gophers tied the game in the ninth with a bases loaded walk. The teams stayed tied 3-3 until the 12th when Minnesota scored five times and Creighton answered with three. Three of Minnesota's runs were on Michael Handel's home run. Fielder lead the team with four hits, Glowicki picked up the win in relief.
Today's game was 2-0 until the Gophers put up 5 runs in the 6th inning. The biggest hit of the inning was a 2 RBI double by Halloran. Dalton Sawyer started, went 7 innings no hits with 4 BB's, 2 HBP, and 5 K's. Hanson pitched the 8th. No hit's, 1 HBP. Thonvold pitched a 1-2-3 9th. First no no for the Gophers since Windle's gem a few years ago. Halloran, Handel, and Smith had 2 hits a piece leading the offense. Halloran with 3 RBI.
Gopher's now 5-7 on the season with 5 straight wins since the Texas swing. Next weekend the Gopher's travel to Richmond Virginia to play in the PK5 classic. They will face James Madison, Monmouth NJ., and VCU. The team then will have an early week two game series against Richmond.
