2018 Season Tickets // Gophers Sign Highest Ranked Class Ever

The college football season just ended, but we are already looking forward to next season. The Gophers will play 12 games in 2018 against teams who combined to post an 87-67 record in 2017. Minnesota will also face seven teams who went to a bowl game last season and all seven of those schools were victorious. Minnesota will also face four teams - Fresno State, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin - who won at least 10 games in 2017.

A look at Minnesota's 2018 schedule is below.

Aug. 30 vs New Mexico State at TCF Bank Stadium
Minnesota kicks off the season with a night game against New Mexico State on Aug. 30. The Aggies went 7-6 last season and beat Utah State 26-20 for its first bowl game win in 57 years. Minnesota is 1-1 all-time against New Mexico State. The Gophers won 44-21 on the road in 2013, but fell 28-21 at home in 2011.

Sept. 8 vs. Fresno State at TCF Bank Stadium
Minnesota and Fresno State will meet for the first time ever when the Gophers host the Bulldogs on Sept. 8. However, the Gophers are familiar with opponents from the Mountain West Conference. Minnesota has played 15 games against teams from the Mountain West and is 12-3 in those contests. The Gophers most recent game against a Mountain West foe was a 31-24 home win against Colorado State in 2016. Fresno State went 10-4 in 2017 and beat Houston 33-27 in its bowl game.

Sept. 15 vs. Miami (OH) at TCF Bank Stadium
Minnesota welcomes the Miami RedHawks back to TCF Bank Stadium for the second time ever when it hosts the Mid-American Conference member. Miami finished the 2017 season 5-7, but ended the year with a victory against Ball State. Minnesota is 3-0 all-time against the RedHawks, which includes a 29-23 win at TCF Bank Stadium in 2011.

Sept. 22 at Maryland
The Gophers open Big Ten play at Maryland, as the teams will meet four the fourth-time ever and for the third straight season. Maryland posted a 17-7 win in the 1977 Hall of Fame Bowl in the first meeting ever between the teams. The Gophers and Terrapins exchanged road wins in 2016 and 2017.

Oct. 6 vs. Iowa at TCF Bank Stadium
Minnesota returns from a bye week to celebrate Homecoming with a trophy game against the Iowa Hawkeyes. In addition to competing for the coveted Floyd of Rosedale trophy, the contest will also be Minnesota's 100th Homecoming game and 14th against Iowa. The Hawkeyes ended the season 8-5 last season and beat Boston College in a bowl game. The Gophers are 59-37-3 all-time in Homecoming games and have won their last four games against Illinois (2017), Rutgers (2016), Ohio (2015) and Purdue (2014). Minnesota is 10-3-0 all-time against Iowa on Homecoming and leads the overall series 62-47-2.

Oct. 13 at Ohio State
The Maroon and Gold head to the land of Scarlet and Gray when it visits Ohio State on Oct. 13. Ohio State was 12-2 in 2017 and beat USC in a bowl game last season. The Gophers are 7-44 all-time against the Buckeyes. Minnesota’s last win in the series was in Columbus, Ohio as the Gophers posted a 29-17 win. Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck spent the 2006 season in Columbus as a graduate assistant.

Oct. 20 at Nebraska
Minnesota travels to Nebraska for a Big Ten West clash. The Gophers lead the all-time series with the Huskers 32-24-2 and beat Nebraska 54-21 last season. The 54 points were the most points scored by the Gophers in a Big Ten game since it beat Indiana 63-26 in 2006. The 54 points were also the most that Minnesota scored against a Big Ten foe at TCF Bank Stadium, breaking the previous mark of 51 against Iowa in 2014. Minnesota’s 54 points tied for the second-most points it had ever scored against Nebraska. The Gophers beat Nebraska 54-0 in 1943 and topped the Huskers 61-7 in 1945.

Oct. 26 vs. Indiana at TCF Bank Stadium
The Gophers venture into Friday night football when it hosts Indiana in a night game on Friday, Oct. 26. Indiana will be the last Big Ten team to play at TCF Bank Stadium, which opened in 2009. The Hoosiers are however the last team that Minnesota beat at the Metrodome (16-7 in 2008) before moving to the on-campus TCF Bank Stadium. Minnesota is 38-26-3 all-time against the Hoosiers.

Nov. 3 at Illinois
Minnesota heads to coach P.J. Fleck’s home state when it visits the Illini. Minnesota is 38-29-3 all-time against Illinois and has won three straight in the series after a 24-17 Homecoming win in 2017. The game will be Fleck’s first leading the Gophers at Illinois, but it will be the second time he will be a visiting head coach at Memorial Stadium. Fleck led Western Michigan to a 34-10 win at Illinois in 2016.

Nov. 10 vs. Purdue at TCF Bank Stadium
Minnesota hosts Purdue on Nov. 10. The Boilermakers were 7-6 last season and beat Arizona 38-35 in a bowl game. The Gophers lead the all-time series 37-33-3 and are 4-1 in their last five games against the Boilers. Last year’s game was disrupted by an 88-minute rain delay, which should not be the case in early November in Minneapolis.

Nov. 17 vs. Northwestern at TCF Bank Stadium
The Gophers will celebrate Senior Day and close out the home portion of its schedule against Northwestern on Nov. 17. The Wildcats went 10-3 last season and beat Kentucky in a bowl game. Minnesota is 53-35-5 all-time against the Wildcats and have won the last two home meetings between the schools.
