Whenever Shannon Brooks touches the football there is a chance for fireworks. The junior running back averages just shy of 25 yards per touchdown on his 12 career rushing scores.
Brooks has rushed 257 times for 1,359 yards in 22 games, which ranks 31st all-time in program history. He has also caught two touchdown passes and passed for one in his career and is the first Gopher running back since Duane Bennett, who played from 2007-11, to rush, pass and throw for a touchdown in his career.
After a standout freshman season, Brooks missed the first three games of last year due to injury. He came back and complimented Rodney Smith to make a dynamic one-two punch. He rushed 138 times for 650 yards and five touchdowns.

Shannon Brooks: My celebrity crush would have to be Beyoncé because you know, it’s Beyoncé. Baddest woman on earth.
GS: What would you do if you won a million dollars today?
SB: I would help my family out, buy my mom a car and save the rest.
GS: Who on the team would win in an arm wrestling competition?
SB: I am going to have to go with Big Steve (Steven Richardson). He has the nickname and his arms are crazy big.
GS: What teammate or coach would you choose to partner up with in the Hunger Games and why?
SB: Coach Nichol (Dan Nichol) because the man is crazy. I feel like he could take a bullet or two.
GS: Favorite video game?
SB: Going to go with NBA 2K. Nobody can mess with me in 2K. My MyPlayer is crazy. I am the best on the team. Nobody can beat me.
GS: Best hair on the team?
SB: I would say me but my hairline is kind of going back a little. I am going to go with Coach Fleck (P.J. Fleck). He has a nice little buzzcut. It would have to be between him and my boy Hunter Register.
