I want to take a moment to honor Susan B. Anthony, whose contribution to feminism and workers' rights are mammoth. Without Anthony, who knows if/when the US would have achieved women's suffrage. Feminists everywhere, myself included, owe an enormous debt to this resilient, brilliant visionary. On this day in 1884, Anthony implored the US House judiciary committee to amend the constitution to legalize women's suffrage for all time. In 1919, Congress finally passed the 'Anthony Amendment', 13 years after her death. I pray we can finally ratify the 'Equal Rights Amendment' so my mother, sisters, and peers live long enough to enjoy the fruits of their respective labor in service of a cause larger than any of us.
