My mom is a Minnesota Gopher, through and through....I was blessed to have a mom that taught me about my God, Scandinavian traditions, love of Minnesota sports, great sense of humor, loved me in ways that are still amazing to me, sacrificial in her time, taught me a love for music.. She is creative and artsy as well as brought a ton of joy to my life and I am PRIVILEGED EVERY DAY, to be able to call her and tell her that I love her and am thankful for her.
I would like to offer my sincere, heart-felt, condolences to those who are experiencing their FIRST Mothers Day without their mom. OR perhaps it was long ago but the feelings of missing them are as intense as ever. Probably will happen to me someday as well.. I am sure it is bittersweet for you but I hope you can laugh and be comforted in the memories through the tears of missing her.. If your mom, is still around, DONT EVER MISS THE CHANCE TO SAY "I LOVE YOU" TO HER!! I had one of my former players that had a senseless argument that was started by immaturity on his part.. He was estranged by his choice from his mom for a short time and she died soon after without him ever telling her again that he was sorry or loved her. He lives in that "emotional prison" as a result, that haunts him to this day. Try not to let that happen.
Moms are the ones that we go to when times are bad, for the most part. THey folded our athletic uniforms and made sure all the forms were filled out correctly to participate....Much to thank moms for and even if you dont have money to get a card, at least take the time to say, "THANK YOU MOM!! I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE!" I have an awesome dad, too, but moms are special and their jobs are thankless, many times, so this is a good time to reflect on the thankfullness.. Wish your mom, wife, and whoever else is a mom; A HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
