It is being reported from Iowa City that 4,000 tickets remain for IA's game against #4 PSU tomorrow night. This is another indication of the uphill battle universities are facing with respect to attendance. If IA cannot sellout a game at home that is this big, what can we expect for schools with less fan support?
Several reasons are being given for this game not being sold out:
1. The game is at night (this never seems to bother LSU).
2. The average ticket price is $95.
3. The game is on national television.
We read and hear more all the time that people under age 35 are less and less interested in attending events with specific times and places associated with them. Movies are a prime example--especially because there are so many other ways to access this medium. Sports viewing is moving in that direction. The average season ticketholder around the Big 10 is 65 years of age.
