UCLA is obviously in the Los Angeles area... They are located in Westwood which is just outside Beverly Hills... I have been out there and it is a beautiful campus.. For years, they shared the LA Coliseum with USC and both schools had to make sure that when one had a home game, the other had an away game unless they played each other..

Well now they use the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena as their home field... That is 27 miles away from the UCLA campus. Since it is in LA with its horrible traffic, it literally takes an hour to an hour and a half for students to get to the stadium from the campus. Westwood is beautiful, Pasadena is beautiful.. But an hour trip TO A HOME GAME from campus is NOT A BEAUTIFUL thing.

I think UCONN is about 15 - 20 miles away from their football stadium and UMASS played at Foxboro for a season I think.. That was a 70 mile drive, I believe....The point is that there are others but UCONN and UMASS arent football powers either. Those are basketball schools...I just wonder how badly the distance of the stadium affects recruiting for UCLA......THOUGHTS????
