Hedstrom was offered a deal by Wisconsin where he'd have to walk-on a year and then be on scholarship the years after that.

Jon McNamara from Badger Blitz says Hedstrom isn't going to jump at the offer. Here's what he heard from his sources:

"I think he will wait a tad because one or two just like it could come. Minnesota I can see doing same thing and maybe going full if they miss on two guards.

"He won't wait long, though."

Hedstrom is visiting Boise State soon and has some other MM offers set up. No other high-major offers yet, and Minnesota hasn't extended the same deal yet.

Remember, the focus for the Gophers' last spot is a ball-handling guard, but Hedstrom is of course getting a close look even though he's a center because he's an in-state prospect. Pitino watched him throughout July.

A quick review of the remaining targets:
  • Eric Hunter: Minnesota official visit likely. Competing against Butler, Purdue, Xavier, and a few others. Really liked his Minnesota unofficial visit but those in Indiana think it will be Butler or Purdue. Eric just told me that he doesn't have any visits set up.
  • Marcus Zegarowski: Minnesota in his top four but he has not visited yet and says that he'll probably make a decision before taking more visits. Some think Washington lead but Bossi thinks Washington is the runaway favorite.
  • Anthony Nelson: This was a more recent offer and he's probably behind Hunter, although Nelson was very good this summer for NY Lightning. Cincinnati and UNLV offered shortly after Minnesota and he has other HM offers from Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. John's. I know the Rutgers offer isn't committable and he's St. John's third option right now. I'm not sure about Seton Hall one way or another. My Dayton source seems to think that he's their backup option at point guard. Anthony just told me he has no visits set up. I would think Minnesota is in a very competitive spot for him.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker: When Minnesota was offered, I was told there was already a group of four (Michigan State, Illinois, Iowa State, Xavier) that was in on him, and that was before Kansas offered. I think we can forget about Horton-Tucker for now.
  • Nate Hinton: Minnesota was the 15th or 16th high-major to offer and he's wanted by many of them. I haven't heard anything that would lead me to believe that Minnesota is a leader for Hinton, but I imagine they'll push for a visit, although I wouldn't necessarily count on Minnesota getting a visit.
