Most of the rest of trips to the end zone were taken by Viramontes, the former Norco High star who bounced back from Cal and has turned himself into a wanted commodity. He has 1,336 net yards in 11 games, a 7.9 average per carry and 121.5 per game, with 21 rushing touchdowns. And he has thrown for 1,575 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Saturday night’s five rushing touchdowns against Ventura were his season high. Ironically, when the Tigers played Ventura here Sept. 23 he passed for five scores, which has also been his season high.
“He’s a competitive guy, and we’re riding him,” RCC coach Tom Craft said. “He got some help, but he did some good things tonight. He’s a tough guy and he’s competitive, and we’ve got good people around him. We’re just going to see how this thing goes.”
The key to the process that has resulted in this body of work?
“You’ve got 24 hours in a day, and it’s just what you’re doing with your 24 hours,” he said.
“You can throw a good ball, but what can you do to throw a better ball? Or you can make a good run, make a good move, but what can you do to make a better move? That’s the way I think about it, and that’s the way I process all this.”

RCC punched its ticket to the Southern California regional championship game Saturday night at Wheelock Field, with Viramontes rushing for 128 yards and five touchdowns and passing for 332 yards and two more and the Tigers’ defense getting stops when they were needed most to put the ribbon on a 49-33 victory over Ventura.
