These are pretty grim results. The following QBs were recruited by Kill.Claeys and left the program:
Philip Nelson
Chris Streveler (after a year or so at QB, switched to WR and then left)
D. McKinzy
R. Estes
The only QBs still on the squad who were originally recruited as scholarship players are Denny Croft and Seth Green.
Wide receivers who have left the program include:
Jamel Harbison
Andre McDonald
Isaiah Gentry
Connor Krizanck (recruited as both a QB and WR)
Desmond Gant
D. Jones
DeMarcus Williams
The only WRs who are juniors or seniors originally recruited as scholarship players and who are still on the squad are Eric Carter, Melvin Holland and Rashad Still.
In hindsight, the quality of these players was always suspect. Some were passed on by other programs because of character issues like their work ethics and so forth. Some (like most of the QBs) weren't Big Ten talent players to begin with. Also, what path to success could many QBs and WRs have seen under the offenses run by Kill/Claeys.
There were exceptions to the above, naturally, but are pretty much limited to KJ Maye, Drew Wolitarsky and, of course, Mitch Leidner. For having ended up with the Vikings Frechte never produced that much for the Gophers.
