With the boycott decision, the team has sent the Pres and AD the message that as players for the university, these young adults no longer trust in the fairness, equity and due process their leaders will exercise in dealing with problems that will always develop in an Athletic Department despite the best efforts of coaches to mentor their players appropriately.
If the leadership and trust components cannot be healed quickly, the downside for the university may be very dark unfortunately in the athletic area and beyond.
Once an AD loses the trust of his players...especially in the main revenue sport he has been hired to lead and develop...and scores a "D" or "F" in the process, the outlook cannot be positive for him looking forward.
In terms of the Pres, this looks as if it may be the second consecutive misfire in an AD hiring decision that has resulted in damaging downside for the university because of poor management choices.
