Tyler Scanlon entered the transfer portal roughly a week ago, and Minnesota has reportedly reached out to him according to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.

Borzello tweeted on Tuesday that Scanlon had heard from Minnesota, Illinois, Arkansas, Belmont, George Washington, and Richmond. He followed that up on Wednesday by saying that Florida, Wisconsin, Georgia, and St. Louis were in touch on Wednesday.

Scanlon, is a 6-foot-7, 215 pound small forward who completed three seasons of play with Boston University. As a freshman he averaged 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. His sophomore season he went for 10.5 points, 5.5 boards, and 3.0 assists. Last season he upped his scoring to 13.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

In his three year career, Scanlon made 367 out of 821 field goal attempts for a 44.7 percent clip. His reputation is one of an outside shooter. 415 shots came from behind the arc, which is just roughly over half. He made 158 of them for 38 percent.

Scanlon shot 80 precent from the line last season. He also had 233 career assist versus 158 turnovers.

The Terriers had one game last season against a high major program. Against Rutgers, he had 11 points on 5 of 14 shooting. He also had 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Minnesota has numbers at the three spot next season, but not as much experience. Currently, two freshmen will look to compete for the spot: 6-foot-8 Isaiah Ihnen from Munich, Germany, and 6-foot-5 Tre Williams from Texas. 6-foot-7 senior, Michael Hurt be the only returner who has had playing time at that spot. He averaged 1.7 points per game last season in limited play.

Although more attention has been given to the need of depth at the point guard spot, Scanlon would provide veteran play at the small forward spot.

Scanlon is originally from Fairfax, Virginia. He helped Westfield High School to the State 6A Championship during his senior season in 2016.
