Minnesota has a top-of-the-line volleyball team nationally.. That said, Wisconsin has had our number.... Wisconsin beat us twice this season though we took Wisconsin to 5 sets, in Madison. We are peaking at the right time.. We beat a top 5 team nationally, in Baylor, without our best player playing a good match.. That bodes well for our future... I see Jenna Wenaas taking leadership of this team, up front, after Stephanie Samedy and Airi Miyabe leave the program. We will have Taylor Landfair back next year with some REALLY TALENTED RECRUITS!!! We also picked up a couple of backup setters recently to add depth. So Gopher volleyball will be exciting in the future as well.

BUT TODAY'S OBJECTIVE is to win this match... Keep the college careers of Stephanie Samedy, Miyabe, CC McGraw and Katie Myers going. Wisconsin is playing in front of their home crowd, so the Gophers will have to be at the top of their game... Wisconsin has Dana Rettke, but so much more than that including Gopher transfer Lauren Barnes..... We have struggled with Wisconsin's slide step spike, in our matches with them. BUT IN ANY SPORT, IT IS TOUGH TO BEAT A TOP LEVEL TEAM, 3 TIMES, IN A SEASON!! Gotta support our Gopher ladies tonight as this is the biggest match we have ever had with Wisconsin... WInner moves on and loser ends the season.. Either way, you will see one of 2 of the best collegiate volleyball players in the last decade(Rettke or Samedy) that will be playing their last night of collegiate volleyball tonight. I dont know about you, but I am looking for the Gophers to pull off the upset tonight.. GO GOPHERS!!!
