Purdue's one of the best teams in the country and currently No. 5 in the nation. They've lost very little from last year outside of Caleb Swanigan. Like most Matt Painter-led teams, Purdue has a really good big man (Isaac Haas) and surrounds him with very good shooters (Edwards, Thompson, Mathias, Edwards). Haas, at 7'3", is very good with his back to the basket and has become good passing out of double teams. For Minnesota to compete, Konate will have to stay out of foul trouble without the help of Minnesota doubling because the Boilermakers can make you pay with threes. That's obviously a tall task for BK. Vincent Edwards is an All-Big Ten-level power forward that's athletic, has a great faceup game, and can score on all three levels. Dakota Mathias and PJ Thompson are shooters. Carsen Edwards is an athletic jitterbug in the backcourt that can create for himself and score anywhere. The bench is solid too, with backup center Matt Harms in line to take Haas' spot as Purdue's annual All-Big Ten center and Ryan Cline being a great shooter. Defensively, Purdue packs it in inside the three-point lane and plays man defense, much like Indiana.
