Vic Viramontes:
Positives:
Overall, Vic is a very talented quarterback who has a strong arm and exceptional running ability. The question going forward will be if he is able to grasp the offense Fleck wants to run, and if he will learn to go through his progressions before turning to his legs.
Matt posted his thoughts here, and Mark will be writing up a film review as well!
Positives:
- First thing you notice is the zip that the ball has coming off his hands. One of his highlights shows him throwing the ball over fifty yards in the air, and it is on a line
- He has the strength to hit the Cover 2 pocket in-between the corner and safety, and throw outside the hash marks
- Ability to run and escape the pocket. Accurate on the move
- Tough kid. Didn’t slide in any of the plays I watched. Tries running through defenders
- Tends to be a bit of a playground quarterback. Trusts his legs a bit too much to get him out of trouble. He won’t be able to run in the Big Ten like he does in JUCO
- In the clips I watched he rarely went through his progressions. If his first read wasn’t there, he looks to run. Only a few clips I saw actually had him look to a 2nd or 3rd option
