Now What Do We Think?

Practices now, for all practical sense, go behind closed doors. What do we think now about this years prospects?

I for one am not more optimistic. The QB is THE critical position and the fact that Coach F couldn't decide is a problem. His difficulty isn't because he can't decide which Heisman candidate to bench. The problem is that each has shortcomings. Let's hope the O line can make the QB's lives easier.

This brings us to number two. The O line has, per reports, been manhandled by the D. There are still key players on the sideline. Third, on the D side we have undersized rushers on the ends and it should go well against Buffalo, but against the B1G maulers can we hold ourselves together against a 4 quarter rushing onslaught? I really do not know.

In the D backfield we have nagging injuries and very short depth. That a D back could move from QB to DB and in about 6 practices move to number 2 on the depth chart isn't good news.

On the good side, it appears we may really have some answers at the receiver position.

The key, this year will be injuries. OL, DB, QB are all thin. A few unlucky injuries could be disastrous. Have to stick with a 6-6 record that could easily be 8-4 (or better) or 4-8. GO GOPHERS!
