Linebacker De'Vondre Campbell and cornerback Eric Murray are at the top of defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys' list of players.
"Those kids just do their job, and they're as good ... as there are in the Big Ten," Claeys said. "They will have great years."
With record-setting tailback David Cobb gone, it's a wide-open
contest between freshmen Jeff Jones, Rodney Smith, Berkley Edwards and
junior Rodrick Williams.
"It could be more of a committee (approach) because each guy brings something," Limegrover said.
Limegrover said the Gophers need to be able to stretch the field with plays over 20 yards.
"We have to get the young wide receivers acclimated," he said. "Spring will be telling with the skill guys on what we have."
On defense, the focus is on who will replace Damien Wilson.
"I just don't know how that's all going to play out," Claeys
said. Everett (Williams) did start against Iowa and did play well. I
think he will have a great opportunity to take that spot."
Although the Gophers lost defensive linemen Mike Amaefula
and Cameron Botticelli, Claeys doesn't expect a drop-off up front.
"We should be as good as what we were (last) year and actually
with how many freshman we played, with them getting better, we should
play better in the defensive line," Claeys said. "I'm excited about
seeing those kids compete."
Some names Claeys mentioned: Hank Ekpe, Alex Keith and Julien Kafo Gaelin Elmore, Andrew Stelter and Robert Ndondo-Lay

The defensive backfield should remain the team's strength, with
senior starters in Murray, Briean Boddy-Calhoun, Demarius Travis and
Antonio Johnson.
"We won't slip any," Claeys said.
