University of Minnesota football coach P.J. Fleck will be featured in a four-part series on ESPNU that chronicles Fleck’s first couple months of leading the Gophers.

The series – titled Being P.J. Fleck – debuts on Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. CT and a new 30-minute episode will air the following three Wednesdays on August 9, 16 and 23 on ESPNU. Each episode will be available on demand via ESPN streaming devices.

Being P.J. Fleck, co-produced by Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly and JM Associates, follows the energetic coach throughout the offseason, and documents him in various settings, which includes teams meetings, hospital visits and motivational speeches around the country. Fans will also get a glimpse of Fleck’s upbringing, including seeing his hometown, hearing from his family and understanding the personal impact of two major coaching influences in Mike Nolan (New Orleans Saints linebackers coach) and Jim Tressel (Youngstown State president and former Ohio State coach).

“To no surprise, P.J. is all heart, all the time,” said co-executive producer Bo Mattingly. “Throughout the filming, which continues for a few more weeks, we capture his personality, passion and drive with his family, team and others he interacts with in various situations.”

Fleck was named head football coach at Minnesota on Jan. 6, 2017, and is the 30th head coach in the program’s history. Fleck, 36, is one the youngest and brightest minds in the game and came to Minnesota after spending four years as the head coach at Western Michigan, where he was 30-22 overall and 21-11 in the Mid-American Conference.

While leading the Broncos, Fleck authored one of the most memorable turnarounds in college football history. The Broncos were 1-11 in his first year in 2013, but ended last season with a No. 12 ranking, a 13-1 record, a conference championship and a berth in the Cotton Bowl. Fleck was named MAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016 and last season he led the Broncos to their first MAC Championship since 1988.

Fleck and the Gophers start the 2017 season against Buffalo at 6 p.m. on Aug. 31 at TCF Bank Stadium. Tickets are on sale now.
