Privacy Laws - Did Pitino & Coyle Know?

Maybe I missed it. Did Coyle and Pitino know Lynch was under investigation for two different sexual assault incidents after he was "cleared" by the police for a separate third incident? If they did know, were they required (by privacy laws) to allow Lynch to participate in basketball activities? I hope the reality is that they did not know about the two pending investigations.
