Strengths: balance, tough runner, one-cut back, feel for the position, feet
Weaknesses: breakaway speed, quickness
Jirehl Brock is a 6’0”, 200-pound smooth RB from Quincy, IL. I really like Brock’s tape. Brock has exceptional balance and toughness when he runs. He often bounces off would-be tacklers and rarely goes down on first contact. Jirehl only had one catch on his film since his team runs a version of the wing-t but he looked very natural in his ability to catch.
Brock reads his blockers extremely well and has great feet when it comes to sticking his foot in the ground and cutting back to find the open running lane. Jirehl reminds me of Rodney Smith in his feet and balance at the running back position. He continuously keeps his feet pumping through contact.
Jirehl doesn’t have great quickness or breakaway speed which might be his one knock at this point in time. He does get caught from behind at some points. Iowa and Northwestern are also very competitive for Brock, but hopefully Minnesota can make a great impression this weekend as he visits Iowa State and Iowa the next two weeks.
